still here

2018-12-09T05:47:32Z

I'm still here, still working on getting my wordpress site up and running, and I have officially borked every image link I have checked on this site. Sorry.
I'm going to work on re-linking at least the collaborations, like Big Bangs or fic book covers. I am pretty sure those are all recent enough that I can find the original files.

Whew, the web is a weird place. So, if you are looking for me I'm still on Tumblr, Twitter, and Pillowfort, plus I am loitering on a few Discord channels.

How is everybody doing?

I auto-generated a bunch of bingo cards of writing prompts, and I needed a place to put them.

Re-emerging from hibernation

2017-06-11T18:46:48Z

So here's the new thing: DW is coming back, other spaces are folding away.

I recently redid some things on my server, so all the art links are officially broken! Yay! I'm not even certain I still have some of the files on the internet (which honestly may be for the best), but I'll start sorting through some of the recent stuff and sticking it up again. My fandom tastes and inclination have changed a tremendous amount in the last 10 years, so some of that art may just be lost to the whirlwind.

Perhaps this is an opportunity to re-examine some of the old fanfic, too, and stick some of the mostly-complete bits onto AO3. Even if they are terribly terribly old.

I've been in a consumer-only space regarding fandom for quite some time now, but I feel like I could at least be more social with that. I miss fandom spaces.

Art Challenge Meme

2014-07-24T17:26:54Z

Ok. So I reblogged this on Tumblr but nobody bites on art stuff for me on Tumblr.
(zephrene.tumblr.com if you are not already there.)

So here's a Palette Challenge Meme - go take a look at the palettes:
FallenZephyr's 100 Palette Challenge or just pick a random number between 1 and 100 and I'll consult the palette listing myself.

Suggestions for subjects can include fanart but don't have to. I'm looking for ways to do quick exercises as well as a few finished pieces.

Here's my schedule (or at the website):

I'll also have work on display and for sale in the art show.

An appeal to womanhood throughout the world

2014-05-11T13:11:47Z

The Mother's Day Proclamation, by Julia Ward Howe

(Video Direct Link: Democracy Now!)
Arise, then, women of this day!
Arise, all women who have hearts, Whether our baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly : We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies.

Our husbands shall not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause.

Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience. We, women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country, to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.

From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up with our own. It says: Disarm, disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice. Blood does not wipe out dishonor, nor violence vindicate possession.

As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil at the summons of war, let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of council.

Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead. Let them then solemnly take council with each other as to the means whereby the great human family can live in peace, man as the brother of man, each bearing after his own kind the sacred impress, not of Caesar, but of God.

In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask that a general congress of women, without limit of nationality, may be appointed and held at some place deemed most convenient, and at the earliest period consistent with its objects, to promote the alliance of the different nationalities, the amicable settlement of international questions, the great and general interests of peace.

Randomness

2014-01-17T02:22:28Z

I'm sort of getting creative again... not that anybody is necessarily reading LJ or DW these days.
But I grabbed a great bingo card from this Bingo Card Generator and now I might try to do some fic, just some quick, easy stuff - possibly original, maybe not. At least it would get me writing more each day. My goal is to hit 750 words a day (this helps) but currently it's more like 200 a day if I'm lucky and lots of incompletes.

I'm also thinking about doing some art for purposes of income. Prayer cards for polytheists, frame-able prints, ACEOs, comics sketches. I've got a graphic novel percolating in sketches and experimental layouts, too. 2014 could be an awesome year.

The other stuff going on is going to be the real kicker, though. I've got a lot of stuff happening, and a full time job. And lack the courage, as of yet, to quit and try to make my way on art. We'll see.

In other news, I'm traveling with my family to Munich at the end of April into May. Anybody have any suggestions for things to see/do with three adults and two seniors? We probably won't be able to wander too far from Munich proper, and we all enjoy history. Also my brother will probably try to see a football game.

fun with image management

2013-05-12T20:36:41Z

I've been working on an illustration portfolio site in Wordpress and it's driving me absolutely batty, but I think I have finally figured out work-arounds for all the stupid buggy things that are happening. Geez.

In other news, have seen Iron Man 3 twice now, and still enjoyed it. Some things are problematic, but on the whole - yay. Really enjoying the fanfic coming out of it, too.

Been trying to get the house in order, now that we're hopefully done with major interior renovations for a while. I actually have books on my bookcases now, although they are in no way organized or cataloged. Have not found all of them, either. I am sure I am missing a few that must be in odd boxes.

I did set up my sewing machine, though. So, yay.

Fandom: it runs in the family

2012-06-01T21:07:03Z

Ok, so there has been a lot of stuff going on lately, involving such exciting things as cancer diagnoses (not me), family gatherings, crazy weather wrecking business travel, promotions, crises at work, increasingly messy apartments, car ownership, and more cancer stuff. I may post about it sometime. Maybe.
In the meantime, here is today's fun chat transcript:

me: so I sent my parents the link to the trailer for the new Les Miserables movie, and Dad said that we should move beds into the theater so we can watch it til the cows come home.
Jaye: nice to know this is a genetic condition

Yeah... I may have seen The Avengers five times since April. Hey, I come by it honestly!

Also, my parents are surprisingly serious Les Miz (the musical) fans. Everything stops in their house when the Anniversary Concerts come on PBS. And sometimes they call me to be sure that I know they're on. I ♥ them.

Shuttle / Everybody OTP

2012-01-17T20:50:24Z

So I retweeted the following:

Which subways do you guys ship? I think A / F is fun, but 6 / 7 will ALWAYS be my OTP.

And this happened:

Jaye: I am now trying to ship train lines. Thanks

me: LOL, you're welcome! i think I ship W/7 myself.

me: unless they don't exist anymore.

Jaye: Nono, that'd be great

The 7 is pining for its lost love

me: awww. man, the h/c potential there.

Jaye: I think the shuttle would make a great rebound fuck

Yet another sentence I never thought I'd type

me: aw, man. the shuttle really gets around, though.

Jaye: maybe the transit museum sells train condoms

me: ... they probably do.

Jaye: ah, yes: http://secondavenuesagas.com/2007/01/08/condoms-a-la-nyc-subways/

me: I love this town!
